Alva is a Birmingham native.  He was a marketing major at the University of Alabama where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He is actively involved in the Birmingham Home Builders Association, the Mountain Brook and Vestavia Chamber of Commerce, and is a local volunteer in various Birmingham area charities. Alva and his wife, Michelle have two children and reside in Mountain Brook. He and his family are members of Church of the Highlands.  Alva is also a member of The University of Alabama National Alumni Association.  In his spare time, Alva enjoys time with his family, hunting and fishing at his farm and college football.
